Skin Deep

When we lived in Chicago, I listened to WXRT, a wonderful, eclectic radio station. WXRT does a lot to promote local talent, including the local blues artists. A particular favorite at XRT is Buddy Guy. If you don't know his music, you might want to change that. He's covered all the major blues tunes and has an incredible body of work.

Lately, though, XRT has been playing this new, softer song of Guy's. It's gorgeous. I can listen to it over and over.....

Underneath, we're all the same.......

  2. Yes, we are all the same.. Love the song.. thanks for pointing it out.

I wish more people could see this. This is the fundamental problem with our country and with our society today.

  10. I love Buddy Guy and saw him recently. I never miss him when he comes west.

My favorite song on the new album is Skin Deep and another good one is Who will fill their shoes? Its about all the great bluesmen.

  13. I've always been a Buddy Guy fan. I'm an old Blues lover. I get the blues. The Blues led me to Jazz.

    Thanks for the tuneful tune.

  14. OMG, OMG, you are not a Buddy Guy fan!?!

Right in front of me now is a framed program hanging on my wall from the Brecon Jazz Fest 2002 featuring Buddy Guy.

It is hand signed by the man

To Gayle (name is spelled Gail, but who's counting when it's BG)

    Love ya
    Buddy Guy '02

My friend Jann got it for me because her sister organized the Jazz Fest - in Wales.

She knew I adored BG. I'd told her the time I'd seen him in Australia, how I went to the end of the earth on suburban buses to some backwoods burb of Brisbane to see him and how it was the best thing I'd ever seen. I adored him. Still do.

Do you know what that means? Buddy Guy loves me! And I love him.

Sadly my friend Jann died from cancer a year later. That framed poster in front of me drips with emotion.

To find out that you also love him, well, it's too much.

And that song, is beautiful. Listening whilst writing.

  15. Great song, great message.

Nerd note on your new header: love it, but might want to stick to 1000 pixels wide. 40% of users still use 1024 wide or less for display. And who wants to scroll horo?

    Virtual hugs.

  24. Count me in as another life-long fan, and thanks for turning me on to this beautiful song, which I hadn't previously heard.

The pictures of the interracial lovers and babies say it all, don't they?

    ...Oh, and the duckies...! :)
