Rock Bottom

I could choke on this post because it's killing me to be in this position.  But here goes - if you've ever thought you might want to donate a little to this blog, now would be a really good time to do so.  Because those lights?  And the power making the refrigerator stay cold?  Yeah, they become wildly important when you don't have them any more.

This month has turned into a nightmare and the little minimum wage job I thought I had turned out not to be so.  The scheduling made it impossible.

Donations are being accepted via paypal on the sidebar.  If you'd like something in exchange for your generosity, just let me know.  And no, I'm not giving out sexual favors.  Unless expenses are paid, of course*.

Or you could purchase something from the ebay page I'm now populating with all kinds of MathMan and Lisa stuff.

Thank you, you guys.  I have to go throw up now.

  2. Toots - I am going to throw up with you in solidarity, and will visit your wee sidebar full of Paypal goodness. I've been very close to where you are (inches away from declaring bankruptcy/losing house/etc) and it totally blows big chunks of ass. A few years later and things are so different (in a good way). Try to keep your head up and know that many are sending loving vibes your way...

  3. In your shoes. Right now. If you had asked me 6 years ago to work for $10/hr I would have laughed in your face and flipped my highlighted hair. Now I have 2 of those jobs. As a single mom. Of teenagers, who eat a lot. Every day that I have electricity I say a prayer of thanks. Sending good vibes your way. Wish I had $10 to spare.

  4. Damn, Girl. I wish I could, but you are but one step ahead of me.
Don't let depression get you like it has me.

    I care about you all.

  6. If you have anything vintage (like your Depression glass), set up an Etsy store -- much better deal than Ebay because you set a flat price, the fees are lower, and the customers aren't as crazy.

Tomorrow's payday. I'll see what I can do.

  9. Lisa-I wish you a ton of luck! I'm currently overdrawn and what I normally do for that is capped, or I'd try, but I hope this works!

  10. We have all been in this place, or will be. It's also brave to ask for help.

On a practical note of easy moneymaking--I used to do ESL tutoring (I'm not sure if there are many students in your area), and it was such an awesome fill-in-the-money-gaps thing.

  11. Next week's payday, remind me then. Seriously. Or I'll TP your house.

  12. This is a heartbreaking reality for a lot of us. I hate to read about it happening to someone with your talents. I have no talents so it's OK that I'm in a similar situation. But you, on the other hand, should have your writing truly seen. I don't know you personally but I honestly wish you the best and I'm saddened that there is nothing I can do to help you at this moment.

  17. Sending a donation is totally worth it just to see on the receipt that it's going to "PoliTits"!

    Hang in there my friend.

  20. Lisa, you are not alone, and to ask for help is brave and honest.
I'll what I can do, and please know my thoughts are always with you.
Wish I could do more, really.
