Time to Fly

And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here ?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground

  2. This not watching television thing keeps me culturally out of the loop so I had to look up the reference. I can't say I'd mind going back to 1973 and know what I do now because I seriously would change some things in my own past. Come to think of it I could have warned John Lennon and suggested to the architects of the World Trade Center they might want to add a little structural reinforcement.

  3. Attention all you Kindle owners, lend me your ears: My liberal/progressive rock-n-roll novel, American Zen, just went up for sale on Amazon Kindle yesterday. So if you own any of the 10 varieties of Kindle, please give my novel some consideration. If you like what you read on my blog, you'll love American Zen and its take on love, life, politics, etc. There's also an option on the right side of my catalog page that enables you to see a 45 page sample and if you don't have Kindle for PC, you can d/l one for free. TIA.

  4. Hey! You shut off comments above, so I'm commenting here!
You know if I had a magic wand, I'd make it all better. It would be more fun if there were a flip the switch machine that made things right with the world, eh? People like you would have gainful employment & some asshole on wall street, accustomed to $500K bonus money would be sleeping in a shelter & eating in a soup kitchen, while some Vietnam vets would take over the Wall Street guys' summer home in the Hamptons.
Oh yea.... sweet justice would be nice.
All I can tell you girlfriend is stay away from tall buildings.
You will get through this. Even though those bastards in Congress play with your lifeline like so many T day footballs being tossed.... don't let it get to you.
I'm not going to gloss it over either.... it sucks & it is unfair. You did everything they told you to do-- get higher education, play by the rules, all that shit. So why do you have to lie on a job app , essentially dumbing down your salary history so as to be considered for employment circa the 21st century?

I was poking around to look @ State unemployment rates.... & came across this

State Extended Benefits (SEB): SEB provides up to 20 weeks of additional benefits to individuals who exhaust all regular unemployment insurance (UI) and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tiers of EUC on or after February 15, 2009. Individuals who exhaust 4th Tier EUC benefits must apply for SEB by completing an online SEB application. The link is below. Individuals must be eligible to establish an SEB claim on or before December 4, 2010, and meet all other eligibility requirements, to receive benefits under the SEB program.

I have no idea what "tier" you are at, unemployment wise.... but your State may have a program you can squeak by & get if you can jump through the flaming hoops of bureaucracy.

Maybe that is a glisten of hope?

If not, then breathe. Remember to breathe, because nothing like the in-your-face holiday consumer times to give you a whopping serving of the blues.... door buster sale?
Shit boy, I'll be happy to have a freaking roof over my head AND a toilet that flushes!

I know it does not help, when you are treading water to know someone else is having a worse time of it. Glub glub!!

Know that the freaking holidays magnify the problems.

I have been there. The husband- the main breadwinner was unemployed for about a year.
I remember calling or doing web searches about Employment office classes & food stamps & having it all come back with the response that with unemployment $, you make too much to qualify.

Oh so now unemployment comp is a get rich quick scheme? This is a cash cow, long term solution to income??

Frustrating as hell, when you are scrambling to pay the bills & some bureaucracy tells you you make too much money. You want to scream ask the frickin' utility company if I make too much money!

At the risk of repeating myself, I still think you w your brand of snark, writing a book about the life & times of 21st century recession, changing the names to protect the innocent.... but an insiders perspective of just what this journey is like would be a big hit.
You don;t even have to think story lines up... just glean from real life stuff. Suck though it may, it is a treasure chest of material.

  7. So this one really worries me Lisa. I'm not familiar with the show, but it looks like he jumped off a building. If you want to talk I'm here. Remember, things will eventually get better. And I'm the queen of making do when things suck. Black humor, we got it.
