Close to my heart

I've been going through old posts from PoliTits to repost now that the old blog is live again. Six years of words. It reminds me how much we've all grown. Grown means different things when applied to different people.

What makes you want to swing for the fences?

  1. As I seem to have found a "cause" about which to right with a kind of single-minded ferocity, not to mention occasional bouts of exhaustion (research is hard!), I'm thinking of "retiring" my current blog and creating one dedicated solely to my new-found interest in all things gas. Before I do that, I think the same kind of inventory might be necessary, and have some extra time off on my hands right now, so I might do it.

I'm afraid what I might find, though. The past nearly five years have been interesting, to say the least.

  3. What makes me want to swing for the fences? Posts like this, which remind me of the swift passing of years.

I need to swing that bat while I still have a muscle or two.

I probably need to quit cruising the blogosphere tonight, and head to my own backyard ballfield instead. Thanks for the reminder.

  4. Great photos, two cool people doing one cool thing together. It's nice that they can relate that way.

'Tits was a great read, freed as it was by anonymity (not that Naming Names has crimped your style all that much!)

I swing for the fences when my small successes meet with approval (e.g., someone sees something worthwhile in my photographic efforts) and most especially when I'm deemed worthy/valued by my kids. Ursi is especially vocal about that, and nothing makes me try harder than the desire to be worthy if her respect.

  5. Beautiful, Lisa. And, yes, my kids do it for me. 'Tho lately I think I'd rather lock my boy up in one of those cages.

  6. I'm more about getting a free pass than playing Dave Kingman.

  7. My son needed an old photo for his graduation ceremony. We found one from his freshman year, and were amazed at the transformation. The kid grew eight inches in those four years!

  8. The important people, that's what. Today I saw a tiny girl in tiny cotton shorts and summer top, and I was transported back 25 years. There was a little melancholy, remembering my girls when they were tiny like that in their little summery clothes. But mostly I re-lived some moments. Like these ones here.

The important people, the ones that stick in that long running movie in my mind. That's what makes me swing for the fences.

  10. Five years sees a lot of changes these days, and the kids are an unmistakable marker of time. I can tell your family *is* close to your heart... very nice.
