Don't forget you come from nothing

It's been very busy at the office since, well, since the beginning of the new year. This is good busy. The kind that keeps me off the streets and the internet.

The projects are rolling in and I'm all...

Whack-A-Kitty

We have a new leadership team and there are new faces and personalities in the office. It's changed the dynamic and, truth be told, it's livelier. There's more give and take. More moments of levity.

Worry not. We're all business when we have to be.

PARTY HARD

Surprisingly, even I am coming out of my shell, making friends, eating lunch in the break room with my coworkers instead of alone at my desk watching Netflix (and surfing the internet).

But then, who can be an introverted so and so when you've got a boss who declares a new office policy that should prove interesting and calorie-burning. From this point forward, all office conflicts will be resolved by Dance Off.

When It's Time To Party, Party Hard

Which explains why I haven't been here very much. A lack of cogent things to say combined with a compression of free time leave me bereft of words, but not in a sad way. I'm more hell, yeah, I'm going to be a taker instead of a maker. Watching TV,  goofing around on Tumblr and Pinterest, taking naps. So much entertainment, so little time.

Of courses, the commute is still a lot like this -

And

But that doesn't stop me from being the consummate professional I so naturally am.

japanese bananas

This post inspired by this.

  2. The one with the bananas is the funniest by far!!!

Oh, and your post examples too of course. I may have to look into this "dance off" contest to reduce tensions around the office...:)

  3. Your collection of video clips is perfection itself. I think my favorite is the guy pulling up to the stoplight but the turtle ride is also very cool.

Thought for the day from Francoise Sagan:

'I shall live badly if I do not write, and I shall write badly if I do not live.'

  5. Thanks for making me laugh this morning! I'm glad you're too "good" busy to blog. That's the best reason to have long gaps between posts. So much better than puking kids or headcolds or any of the other things that can get in the way.

I hope you film the dance offs.

    1. Summer, this is so much better than puking kids and headcolds and I'm sorry if you're dealing with that. And wouldn't you know it - the first rule of Dance Club? You can guess the rest.

    1. Meleah - it is the best policy, isn't it? Imagine how much more fun work would be if all bosses were so creative.

  16. Ahhh yes, the age old conundrum... you either have time or money, but not both!

As you delve into work, our household tightens the belt buckle because the husband is now unemployed.
Having a household in unemployment & watching the gvmnt play roulette with how long people can get unemployment benefits is for sure distressing at best.

The feeling was, you better sign up right away & get benefits while they exist.

Now the best case scenario is hoping the college grad does not boomerang back to living @ home, because there are no jobs to be found.

We feel like we are riding a turtle into the future. Giddyup Turtle!

  17. I have been a horrible blogfriend, but I feel slightly vindicated because the very first post I visit made me laugh so hard I had to run and pee. Like you, life changes over the past few months have made me alter all sorts of things that were routing. This isn't bad. It's just different. So, sorry about being such a horrid blogfriend, and I will try try try to do better.

  19. What on earth am I doing working from home, suffering children and animals, writing silly things? I should be out in the real world where the big people such as yourself are doing serious things! Thank you for being so inspiring Lisa, I'm going to take a page from your book! Xxcat
