Tomato Collaboration

It started with this post by Steven Emery. (It's short. I'll wait right here for you to come back. Also, be sure to go back and visit Steve's gallery after you're done here. Seriously.)

On which I commented: "Hilarious! She's quite the tomato."

To which Steven replied: "Yeah - I would love to overhear a conversation between these two.  I imagine Mid-Atlantic accents (Jersey, Philly, the City).  Actually, Chicago would work, too.  He would be Vincent - but everyone calls him Vinnie.  I think she's Delores."

So I wrote: "Are you sure she's not a Darlene?"

And Steve answered: "Oh - I could definitely see that, too.  She also might be a Gloria..."

So I said: "Yes! Gloria. Gloria and Vince from the Northwest side of Chicago."

And then Steve provided the final word. The obituary, if you will. "The lifespans of vegetables off the vine is tragically short and scarcely were these love apples named but their time on earth was done.  My mother and I made sure Vince and Gloria had a proper end, laid to rest between slices of whole wheat with mayo, salt and pepper.  They were a credit to their neighborhood."

Reason #6,789 I love the internet. The people.
