Blogroll Amnesty Day

This coming Tuesday, February 3, is Blogroll Amnesty day. This is the day when we are encouraged to link to blogs smaller than our own. I'm planning to participate, but now that I use the rss feed feature for my blog roll, I'm wondering how in the world I'm going to create all those links......

In the meantime, here's a fun explanation created by our fairyblogmother Bluegal ...

If you hear someone shouting "fuck" a lot and grinding her teeth, that would be me trying to figure out the link thing. Pay no attention.

  1. That's a much nicer photo on your profile: you were looking a bit drawn and over it all in the other one.
Mathman was total spunk by the way: I'm sure he still is.

  3. Yes, awesome photo. You are WAY to pretty to want to be my friend. ;)

Are you using Google Reader as your RSS feed? Well, maybe it works on the other kind too. Right-click on the name of the blog in your feeder if it has that. Copy link location. ctrl+V. Done.

  5. I saw that was coming up too - and I wondered the same thing. How do we copy links that are feeds?

    Ditto on Dean Wormer's question...

  8. Yeah! I came over here PRIMARILY to also rave about that photo - what a beauty. The smile! The eyes, the nose, the hair! Did you take it?

Oh yeah - blogroll amnesty... Gotta think about that.

  9. ditto the "you're too pretty to be my friend."

Now a word from the blogmother: Small and newbie bloggers please be aware of the ironclad rule that you are not allowed to make "hey no blog is as small as mine" jokes regarding Blogroll Amnesty Day. The rule is, straight from the queen of the indy blogs herself (ahem), that you are not allowed to complain or mention your blog's low traffic until you have been posting daily for a year. If you're little, link other blogs that are new or still growing their audience, and encourage them to practice their craft daily. Then, show them how.

And if you visit the blogs that you read on your feedreader, then you can link them from their url. That's the best way to see if they're worthy.

  10. I've been posting for over three years, and I think my traffic has actually gotten smaller, so I'm allowed.
Was that "blogs smaller than yours" idea in effect before, because I've dont the blog amnesty thing, and I thought it was more about linking to (and reading) smaller blogs rather than just the big boys.

Anyway, thanks for the heads-up, I hadnt heard it was time for another round of Blog Amnesty Day. It gives me the perfect excuse to renovate my Blog Roll.

  11. Total Ditto on Dean Wormer's question. My blog is pretty damned small. Unless I link to Slappy's blog, what will I do?
