Suzy traipsed all over Europe for a month.
Teri went to Italy. So did Sherry. Heck,Cat lives there! And she took a trip to Paris.
Downith, who lives in England, went to the Olympics.
Having conquered France, Bobbi is now moving to Switzerland. Averil left the desert for the green coolness of Portland while Laura just bought her first house and susan is getting ready to move into her new place in Halifax.
Me? I'm going to Cincinnati.
For work.
While this isn't New York London, Paris OR Munich, I'm still excited about it. I come from a small town on the Ohio River, not far from Cincinnati. Growing up, when we mentioned "the city," we were talking about Cincinnati.
In between meetings, there will be the comfort foods of my youth, a Reds game at their new ball field and a trip home to see my parents and siblings, provided my brother remembers to come get me at the hotel.
What's on your itinerary?
I might head back to Columbus at some point, just to see if my apartment is still there...
ReplyDelete;-)
nice...been a while since i was in cincinati...and every city has their allure..i figure you will find something to keep your attention...smiles...have fun...
ReplyDeleteCincinnati is my home town! Don't forget to go to Skyline for lunch while you're there---I could kill for a four-way.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I'm heading into Iowa today to buy cheap jeans for the kids. The glamour, I tell you . . .
I'm going to the pool on Wednesday. Does that count? lol...I'm rather not into traveling at the moment. We had all of that we needed for a while when we traipsed from Iowa to New Mexico. But we are headed to Albuquerque in Oct for the balloon festival.
ReplyDeleteYou're not going to Cleveland, you're going to Cincinnati!
ReplyDeleteI went to northern Maine (read: Canadian Border) for 10 days - and left my kid there for 6 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to see "The Expendables 2" this weekend as my birthday present.
That's pretty much all.
I was hoping to migrate south for the winter, but it looks like that'll be on hold until April (for good reasons!)
ReplyDeleteSafe travels, my friend.
:)
Thanks, kkryno. I'm glad your trip is postponed for good reasons and not bad.
DeleteHappy trails and lots of fun to you!
ReplyDeleteIf the humid weather doesn't let up soon I might move to Baffin Island instead of down the block and around the corner.
Thanks, susan!
DeleteHave fun, Lisa! How great to go to a baseball game AND spend time with your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Teri. It's been a fun trip so far!
DeleteCincinnati! Have a wonderful trip. I will wait in hope for a description of the comfort foods. Please may there be a hot dog on the list.
ReplyDeleteI have no further itinerary. I'm already where I want to be.
Oh, Averil. Tomorrow night - hot dogs smothered in Cincinnati chili and shredded cheese.
DeleteEnjoy your time, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteI would just be happy to get to pee when I need to, without anyone whining or talking to me while I go.
ReplyDeleteI remember, Summer. This too shall pass. I'd like to say that it goes by in a flash, but when you're living it, it really doesn't.
DeleteHa! While I've lived in Ohio for the last 8 years, I've yet to go as far south as Cincinnati. Still remember being shocked to hear the southern accent the first time I talked to someone on the phone from there.
ReplyDeleteMy itinerary? I leave on Wednesday for Bread Loaf in Vermont. I bought a new, 24" purple suitcase and a carry-on bag (also purple, but totally not matching) that could carry a bowling ball. These two bags will have to fit enough stuff for 10 days. Am dreading the packing and the flights but looking forward to 10 days in a writer's bubble in Vermont!
Laura, have a wonderful time! Bread Loaf sounds wonderful.
DeleteSee you on Thursday! Don't forget to let me know what time to pick you up.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dave! I'm looking forward to it. I'll let you know. We're supposed to end at 5pm. I'm hoping it's earlier than that because meetings. Blah!
DeleteHave a good time Lisa and don't forget to treat yourself to something extravagant :).
ReplyDeleteHave a fun time, Lisa. I visited my cousins in Nova Scotia and may make it a double visit to Canada, but perhaps Montreal in the fall. I have the time, I just need to figure out where I'm going and when.
ReplyDeleteI wish you meant me when you said that Suzy went to Europe. Oh well. I went camping on an island for a week, and that's actually pretty wonderful.
ReplyDeletei love your blog, to express your views, this is the correct way.
ReplyDeleteThe wife and I are going to be hanging out here in one of the few climatically tolerable parts of North America for a few more months, then immigrating back to Australia. (We got permanent residency rights when we lived there before, and Canada is dragging its feet too slowly about granting our P.R. application here. Not moving back to the U.S. no-way, no-how when my 3-year work visa expires in November.) Canada is not a bad place, but under the Harper regime, it's becoming too U.S.-like politically, and when the U.S. implodes, it's going to drag this country down with it the same way Mexico's narcoviolencia implosion is dragging down the Confederate border states. There's a lot to be said for living in an inaccessible backwater with great beaches. Time to boomerang, eh?
ReplyDeleteCarissima that pass on your poster is near my place! Stelvio how? I'll take you there one day - for some mulled wine?
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm in a Corsican bar and they've just put Roberta Flack on. Do I have another Pastis? Do I just weep? Do I get up and dance for you even though it's a Fugee's remix??
Hope you're cool! Whenever in Europe you must pop around! Xxx
Seriously contemplating a flight to Ohio to visit the new grandbaby, but things are complicated.
ReplyDeleteKind of miffed that Star Trek transporting technology is not readily available here & now.
Sigh. One could bypass the TSA touching our junk, and save many hours of travel time.
Sorry I missed you in Ohio. Next time, I say we ALL meet in Italy.
